2What is the booking process?
Simply search flights on by providing details of your destination, the times you wish you arrive and depart, and the number of passengers. This will display the results page listing a variety of aircraft choices. From here, you will be able to browse and select your desired aircraft for the leg(s) of your journey.
Once decided, we will send you a proposal for your review. Ground transport arrangement and any special requirements can be requested. Once you are happy with your choices, we will send you our terms and conditions which can be signed digitally. From there, you will have the options to pay by via debit card, credit card or bank transfer and once the payment arrangements have been confirmed, an email will be sent to confirm your booking. Alternatively, if you are unsure of any of the services or would like to speak to someone regarding the details of your flight, please contact our Client Services team.
3 How long will it take to get quotes back for my flight request?
For flights in the USA and Europe you can expect live quotes and aircraft availability within minutes. Requests for larger airline aircraft including particular regions of the world may take longer.
4How many different operators can quote for my flight request?
The ViroFLY network includes up to 10,000 aircrafts among 2,800 accredited private jet operators. The number of aircraft operators quoting for your flight will vary depending on the region, availability, and plane selected.
5Will I receive a proposal for my quote search?
Yes. All proposals will be inclusive of the fees, photos of the plane, insurances and more.
6I only want to receive flight quotes on new aircraft, how would I specify that?
You can specify within the search box the type of aircraft needed. Please contact us or call us on 844-847-6359 if you have any special flight or aircraft requirements.
7What’s the difference between private jet charter and fractional ownership?
Private jet charter involves paying to use someone else’s aircraft when they are not using it. This is normally a one off charter agreement with no long term financial commitment.

Fractional ownership involves sharing the full cost of purchasing and operating an aircraft.

When you charter an aircraft you are only paying for the fuel, airport fees and a small amount of extra cost.
8Can I buy a seat on a private jet?
ViroFLY offers private jet charter for the whole aircraft. The charter price for the aircraft does not change if you fly alone or with every seat occupied. However, if an existing flight has available seats and there is an opportunity to occupy a seat. We will send our clients seat availabilities for booking.
9How much luggage can I take? Are golf clubs allowed on private jets?
Like scheduled airline service, private jets also have weight limits with regard to the amount of luggage that can be stowed during a trip. Items such as skis and golf clubs are allowed as long as they conform to the dimensions and weight limits of the aircraft. These weight limits vary by aircraft type. Ask your charter sales representative if you have concerns about excess baggage or special items to be included in your luggage.
10Are children & pets allowed on private jets?
At ViroFLY we focus first and foremost on passenger safety. There are no age restrictions for passengers on private jets. Please advise us in advance if you are traveling with a child, and we’ll be sure the aircraft selected for your trip will accommodate your family’s needs. Please note, however, ViroFLY or our operators will transport unaccompanied minors under the age of 18. Domestic pets are allowed on some aircraft. Make sure to let your charter sales representative know if you will be traveling with a pet so we can accommodate your request. Please note that exotic animals may not be allowed, especially on international flights.
11I've just missed my scheduled airline flight. How quickly can I get a private jet?
Private jets can be organised very quickly, depending on the location of available aircraft. This can be as quick as 30 minutes from your flight request or may take longer, subject to availability and your location. You just need to submit your request to ViroFLY and all operators will be invited to quote instantly.
12How much does it cost to travel by private jet?
The cost of flying by private jet depends on flight time, aircraft hourly rate, positioning sectors (where the aircraft is flown empty before or after the passenger sector) and airport fees. To find out how much it costs to fly by private jet, use the private jet search bar, which gives all-inclusive price estimates for any global trip. All prices that you receive from our network are fully inclusive, there are no hidden costs.
13What happens after I book my flight?
Once you have booked your flight with ViroFLY we will confirm the flight with the operator. You then need to sign and return the contract that we send you, let us know any catering requests, and send us the passport details for each of the passengers.

15What's included in the price?
ViroFLY quotes are inclusive of the (1) Aircraft Cost, (2) Pilot/Crew Fees, (3) Fuel Surcharge and (4) Landing Fees. For Heavy Cabin aircraft which include a flight attendant, the cost will also be factored into the quote.
Quotes will also display the 7.5% Federal Excise Tax and a $4 per person domestic segment fee. For international flights - all international handling fees will be included in the price along with a $17.70 per person international segment fee.
Quotes do not include incidental charges, such as catering and ground transportation. ViroFLY will invoice you for any catering or ground transportation charges (at cost) after the conclusion of the trip. The client will also be invoiced after the trip for any additional fees - such as deicing fees or hangar fees for flights in colder climates.
16What happens when I get to the Airport?
Most larger airports have either separate private jet terminals or buildings called FBOs (Fixed Based Operators) where private jet passengers check in for their flight. At many airports, private jet passengers can be driven straight through security to their aircraft. The time from arriving at the private jet terminal to boarding your aircraft is normally less than 5 minutes. If however there is a delay to your flight or perhaps you have chosen to arrive early, the FBOs will normally have private executive lounges for you to relax or work in.
17How long before my flight do I need do check in?
ViroFLY recommends that our passengers arrive at the airport 30 minutes before the expected departure (airborne) time.
18Do I still need to show my passport when travelling by private jet charter?
Depending on your flight destination and nationality you may not require your passport when travelling by private jet. However ViroFLY always recommends that our clients travel with a passport, even for domestic flights within their own country.
19How do I know where to go when I arrive at the airport?
Most airports have dedicated private jet check-in facilities. These are normally provided by specialist handling agents (often called FBOs). ViroFLY will send you detailed directions to the airport facilities and your aircraft captain will be waiting for you at the entrance.
20Do I still have customs or immigration when travelling by private jet charter?
Customs and immigration procedures must be complied with for all private jet flights. Private jet customers are often not aware of any checks as in most cases these can be completed prior to the flight. At larger airports the private jet terminal will have dedicated customs and immigration staff. At smaller airports it is rare to see Customs and Immigration officials although they will be aware of your flight and can occasionally make special visits to the airport to meet a flight.
21Are private jets quicker than scheduled airliners?
The flying speed of a private jet varies dramatically depending on the type of aircraft. For example the fastest civilian aircraft in the world is the Citation X (ten), however many smaller jets including the range of aircraft called VLJs (Very Light Jets) generally have lower maximum flight speeds than airliners.
The time saving of flying privately is made on the ground. With minimal check in times and no delays waiting for luggage and clearing customs, flying by private jet is much faster than using a scheduled airline. Also on longer flights Air Traffic Control (ATC) will be able to offer private jet many more short cuts than a scheduled airline. This is because most private jets have a higher rate of climb and can fly higher than a normal air scheduled airline.
22What sort of aircraft do I need for my trip?
The type of aircraft that is most suited for your itinerary will depend on many factors including; flight distance, number of passengers, runway lengths, global region and of course your budget. 23How do I know my aircraft is safe?
ViroFLY has a safety policy that maximises the safety and security of our registered members. The aircraft operators who quote for your flight through the ViroFLY network are licensed to commercially charter their aircraft and are governed by their national civil aviation authority. ViroFLY is able on request to send detailed reports concerning the companies and crews that operate your selected aircraft.
24How many pilots will there be on my aircraft?
ViroFLY always recommends that you have 2 pilots on every flight - indeed this is often a legal requirement depending on the type of aircraft. There are some examples of when only having one pilot is acceptable, such as daylight helicopter flights.
25Can I take my dog with me?

26What catering will I have on board?
VIP catering suitable for the time of day will be provided on-board. For small cabin aircraft this will normally be pre-prepared buffet style options. All flights will also include a fully licensed bar and soft drinks. For larger cabin aircraft which have galley facilities, catering can be prepared on-board and hot meals served. Special catering requests will always be accommodated when possible. Some flights may include basic or full catering inclusive of costs.
27Can I order specific food on my private jet?
Special catering requests can nearly always be sourced as most private jet hubs have arrangements with catering companies or nearby restaurants and hotels.
28What happens if I want to change the time of my departure?
Private aviation is all about flexibility, so if you need to change your departure time it is generally not an issue. However, please do give ViroFLY as much notice as possible so that we can arrange new Air Traffic Control and airport slots to match your schedule.
29Can I add a last minute passenger onto my flight?
For most private jet journeys it is normally easy to add extra passengers onto the flight at the last minute. However to save any embarrassment with or delays for your guests, it is advisable to check with ViroFLY first. Some destinations (such as Russia) require pre-clearance of customers. Also for shorter runways, there may be a limitation on the maximum number of passengers due to the aircraft landing and take off weight limits.
30Can I also book helicopters with ViroFLY?
ViroFLY has an extensive network of helicopters. Helicopter landing sites outside of airports require the landowners permission. Please contact your ViroFLY representative to discuss your helicopter charter requirements. Private helicopter charters are organised as an offline service only.
31What are Empty Legs?
Empty legs are flights which are scheduled to fly without passengers, usually back to their home base or to their next destination in preparation for their next charter flight. Empty flights are inefficient for aircraft operators to carry out, as they do not make a profit from these journeys.
Finding an empty leg for your journey is a cost-effective way to hire a private jet, as charter operators usually sell these flights at up to 75% off the original charter price.
However, it is often very challenging to find an empty leg flight specific to your journey, in terms of the location you want to depart and arrive at, and the times you wish to take-off and land.
32What Empty Leg solutions do you provide?
We have an exclusive feature on our platform that allows you to add as many routes. Once an empty leg flight has been sourced, you will receive an automated email regarding the details. We have plenty of empty leg deals running through our system on a daily basis.
33Do you own and operate the planes?
ViroFLY does not own or operate any aircraft. We are a private jet charter brokerage that negotiates and facilitates each flight on behalf of our clients. The aircraft operators maintain operational control of flights at all times. ViroFLY only uses operators that comply with all FAA mandates, have a Part 135 Charter Certificate and meet ARGUS and/or Wyvern safety standards. We pride ourselves on truly being available 24/7/365 and constantly update our clients on any and all issues related to the aircraft or weather. Rest assured, all clients will be FULLY informed by ViroFLY of all pertinent details about the aircraft, the weather and the flight plan prior to takeoff.
34What if I need to cancel?
Just let us know as soon as possible. Cancellation fees may apply, your cancellation policy will be detailed in your booking confirmation.
35How will bad weather affect my flight?
Extreme weather events may delay or divert your flight. Flight safety is always paramount and the decision to fly will remain with the Captain or airport authority. Refunds are subject to the policies of the aircraft operator. We will always monitor weather in advance to give you ample notice and assistance with alternative arrangements, if necessary.
